I was out for a walk with my family the other day and I came across these beautiful Snake's Head Fritillary growing under a massive oak tree. They reminded me of fairy lanterns and inspired me to illustrate a night time scene of little acorn men busy planting bulbs for the next season.
I first sketched out the idea for the children's illustration in my sketchbook and then later worked on it in procreate. Below is the rough idead, followed by the final sketch and then the colour study.
